Ruby and Ryan are not your typical bride and groom. First, they were friends for decades before becoming lovers. Second, they have some great connections in the West Bottoms that allowed them to create a very original wedding.
There’s this French song I’ve been listening to where the singer says he wishes someone had told him that not all love stories start with an intense fire, that his story was normal because some loves grow slowly over time. I think of Ruby and Ryan every time I hear that song: MPL — “L’inverse du coup de foudre” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuolqLkC428
Ok, back to the wedding. They held their ceremony at Greenwood, an old church transformed into a theater, and also happens to be Ruby’s friend’s house. As if that wasn’t enough, they had the amazing idea to invite the Dirty Force Brass Band to lead the way to The Ship. (It is a bar in West Bottom). It was hard for me not to take blurry photos—this music could make my grandfather dance in his tomb! Somehow, I managed to keep my feet moving while my arms stayed steady, because the photos turned out great.
Ruby used to be a bartender at THE SHIP , which once again opened the door to a unique and atypical venue. Drinking, laughing, dancing… it was the perfect party to celebrate their relationship.
